EQIS Builds Out Executive Ranks

EQIS, which opens SMAs to advisors with mass affluent clients, fills out executive ranks, including an ETF marketing leader from Schwab.

EQIS Capital Management announced today the appointment of Joseph F. Hunter as its president and CEO. Hunter will supervise all facets of the EQIS organization, an asset management platform for financial advisors and registered investment advisors. EQIS gives advisors access to separately managed accounts with model portfolios and direct ownership of equities, traditionally the domain of wealthier clients, with a minimum $25,000 investment.

Lee Chertavian, chairman of the executive committee of the board, expressed, “Joseph’s depth of experience and expertise in the financial services industry make him ideally suited to lead the next phase of EQIS’ growth.” Previously, Hunter was president of Financial Services International Corp. and senior vice president of Correspondent Implementations at National Financial/Fidelity Investments; and senior vice president of broker/dealer operations at Bank of America Investments.

EQIS also said they were hiring Kari Franz as senior vice president of marketing. Franz most recently led mutual fund and exchange traded fund marketing at Charles Schwab.
